Overall Class Reflection
On the first paper, I had a few grammatical errors, like putting the comma outside of the quote instead of inside. As well as citing the author of a book wrong. I never thought about reading my paper out loud, so when Mat read it out loud to me, it was a whole other perspective. I noticed that my paper had a whole bunch of ideas, but was disorganized, kind of jumping all over the place. So, I decided to re-organize my paper into chronological order. This way, the paper made more sense to the readers. Before, I knew my paper did not quite flow, but now I am more confident in it because it sound much better.
After my second paper, I could definitely seen improvement in my overall skills as a reader, writer and researcher towards the end of this project. Since was is a longer paper than usual, I had to learn how to brainstorm and get sources as well as do a detailed outline so I do not get off topic. I have also grown to be a better writer from little things such as beating around the bush and adding extra words when I could just get straight to the point. I have grown as a researcher by learning how to cite things CORRECTLY. This project is very research heavy so citing things correctly is very important. I have learned to cite and do research papers in the past but this project has taught me that there are many resources available to make this easy on us. There are even some articles that will already be cited for you.
The last project was probably my favorite projects out of the three. I liked how it was not just writing a paper but transforming our work into different genres. It was fun to explore the different kind of possible genres.
I enjoyed this class because everything we did was open to flexibility. Without having a set outline and set of rules, it actually made me actually think outside of the box. Writing has never been my strongest subject, but I can confidently say that I have noticed that my writing skills have improved throughout this semester. For example, I was the worst at organizing my thoughts when writing my papers. So this semester I really focused on that by making detailed outlines. I also believe that the chapter readings we did helped me throughout each project. The readings gave me ideas that I would not have thought about before. Such as ways to not make our work too words repetitive, which is another way on how I have improved this semester.
