Exploring and Analyzing Genre Practices
Research Proposal
Many American student’s understanding of the world is unbelievable shallow. I want to research a genre of studying abroad, focusing on the benefits of it, with the text as blogs. This topic came about because my major is international affairs and studying abroad would be a great opportunity for improving cultural competency skills that are essential in my career path. Students may not just study abroad to learn the language, but may want to learn art, culture, politics, or anything you can study first hand yourself. You can prepare by using books, libraries, and internet to get you in the right direction. Then once in the country, your personal observations and personal interactions with curators and other local scholars and tour guides will help foster a more unique and personal learning experience. Studying abroad By examining the scholarly research studying abroad, I will know all about what I should expect when I study abroad when my adventure comes. For this research, I will examine someones blog and compare it to the research that I have found. And with this, I can make my own overall analysis.
Reflection
I have definitely seen improvement in my overall skills as a reader, writer and researcher towards the end of this project. Since this is a longer paper than usual, I have had to learn how to brainstorm and get sources as well as do a detailed outline so I do not get off topic. I have also grown to be a better writer from little things such as beating around the bush and adding extra words when I could just get straight to the point. Have grown as a researcher by learning how to cite things CORRECTLY. This project is very research heavy so citing things correctly is very important. I have learned to cite and do research papers in the past but this project has taught me that there are many resources available to make this easy on us. There are even some articles that will already be cited for you.
